TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
The tournament is co-organized by the Da Nang City Chess Federation, Ho Chi Minh City Chess Federation, and Vietnamchess
1. Time and Venue:
- Time: from December 21 to December 29, 2025.
- Opening Ceremony and Drawing of Lots at 16:30 on December 21, 2025.
- Competition from December 22 to December 28, 2025.
- Venue: Da Nang City.

2. Competition Content:
Individual competition in Standard Chess category.
3. Participants:
3.1. International Players:
The Organizing Committee invites 11 international players from Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, Malaysia, Singapore, and China to participate in the tournament.
3.2. Domestic Players:
- Based on the assessment of the players' level, the Organizing Committee will select and send direct invitation letters to 19 excellent players representing provinces and cities.
- In case one or several players cannot attend resulting in an odd number of pairings, the Organizing Committee will add 1 excellent player from the host locality or as designated by the Organizing Committee.
4. Competition Format:
4.1. General Regulations:
- Standard game time control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from the first move.
- Stage 1: 7-round Swiss system competition.
- Stage 2: The top 4 players advance to the semi-finals (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3), the remaining players continue to play 2 Swiss rounds (rounds 8-9) for ranking.
- Final Stage: Finals and 3rd & 4th place match.
4.2. Format for Semi-finals, Finals, and 3rd-4th Place Match:
- Draw for Standard game: 01 game.
- If drawn: play Rapid 10 minutes + 5 seconds (colors reversed);
- If still drawn: play Blitz 5 minutes + 3 seconds (colors reversed);
- If still drawn: Armageddon blitz game 6 minutes (White) / 4 minutes (Black). If drawn, Black wins.
5. Professional Regulations:
- Apply the current Laws of Xiangqi.
- Ranking in Swiss rounds in order: Points, Buchholz Score, Number of Wins, Number of Wins with Black pieces, Direct Encounter between players with the same score.
- Players who forfeit 2 games in the elimination round will be removed from the tournament.
- Players arriving 30 minutes late after the game starts will be declared absolute losers.
6. Prizes (updated on 22 December 2025):
The prize money is paid in VND, with USD equivalents for each prize as follows:
- 1st place: USD 25,000
- 2nd place: USD 11,000
- 3rd place: USD 7,000
- 4th place: USD 3,000
- 5th place: USD 1,800
- 6th place: USD 1,200
- 7th place: USD 800
- 8th place: USD 600
- 9th place: USD 400
- 10th place: USD 400
Consolation prizes:
- USD 300 for each player ranked 11th–20th
- USD 200 for each player ranked 21st–30th
7. Registration:
The Organizing Committee will send direct invitation letters to the selected players. Players need to respond and complete registration before December 01, 2025. After this deadline, if the invited player does not confirm participation, the Organizing Committee will invite another player as a replacement.
8. Other Regulations:
- The Organizing Committee will cover all participation expenses for the invited players.
- Coaches and players entering the competition area must maintain a serious demeanor and wear neat and polite attire.
